Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Movie Maker Requirements OK .. Cause 3.
I'm not sure what's causing it exactly, but there's presumably some sort of compatibility issue between Windows Movie Maker and the graphics driver somewhere, especially as it worked OK on Windows

Now I am lost too. Also did you try the Windows 7 compatibility suggestion that Arc made. I believe you have a Radeon 5970 and rolled your drivers back last month due to another issue (according to that report, you are at least two versions behind the latest).
