It happened on EVERY computer I ever installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 on. Halo and other MS gaming wisdom. Find "Windows Explorer". And that reminds me of another possibility: Alt-Space.
I believe windows is calling on the tiles for a behind the scenes update on their display info but not recovering when the info is not updated. By the way, my mouse pad on my toshiba is working again, thousands lost their mouse pad function with this same crap...except...double touching does not result in left click like it I don't see "Sync Setting anywhere in the OneDrive Properties. I can maneuver my way around Windows 8 but for a laptop or desktop without a touch screen, Windows 8 sucks.
Hopefully, the Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 start menu button will work normal again. You can NOT treat the desk or laptops as a tablet.
