Windows 8 Invalid Key - New Installation
I want to confirm this as I am guess i will need it when i do a clean installAlso will my old windows 7 key work if i choose to install You can then proceed to do a clean install by using recovery media or using the Reset function in Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this So in short I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with this problem. Learn some English. At some point, the robot will ask you to enter the nine numbers provided by Windows 8. Microsoft wants its users to update to Windows 8.1 through Windows store which doesn't ask for the product key, but this doesn't perform clean installation. Even had fun with Cortana (US Language & Region settings).

Upgrade to ProI clicked on option 2 to upgrade to pro.I clicked yes to install updates and then my computer installed the updates, rebooted twice (I believe) and then voila. There's no option now to revert to Seven.So I am doing a reformat and installaton of Seven from my recovery DVDs I made when I bought the computer. Sorry for wasting so much of your life and mine trying to help. I finally tricked the UEFI (horrid thing) to run a dvd and then I was able to reload from a clone of the OS I made before. I do like using a DVD disk instead of the stick drive in W8.1 and it even works on this laptop that has no DVD reader at all. It has since died. Can I do a fresh install using generic Pro key and revert to basic version while activating using my original Win 8 OEM key??
