Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all... I have exactly the same problem. What do I do (remove all the check marks) I'm not sure what to do? Windows Update hangs and gives no error message but says no Windows Updates have been carried out (ever).

Out of nowhere I cannot install/update anything (I always get "windows installer has stopped working error", I cannot run any metro apps (they simply crash), and windows itself seems unstable. It's probably something I eventually install, but the dastardly thing is that I can't simply intall one thing at a time and see what's causing it, because it's a delayed reaction. The renaming of the string value works but might only be a temp fix.
