Windows Media -player Wont Accept Blank Discs

Then booting back to Ubuntu Hardy (after XP), it doesn't detect blank discs. i swapped it out to a windows machine just so i could update the firmware, after doing so, reinstalled hardy and it worked once again for me with no problems. It would be much better to say the drive is in use by another application.
