Solution 2 worked for me. When I downloaded Abi Word I got a message that said it needed to check Microsoft or something & that was the one & only time updates came through, a ton Be sure to choose the correct version for your operating system and system type.
Restart your PC.Run Windows Update again.This may take a couple of hours to complete!This should resolve most issues However, many of the updates listed here are for Windows 7 and Server 2008, rather than Server 2012.
You can try skipping it if this is not a new install of Windows 7. And to offer proof, I am currently on a Vista machine that is working perfect on a Lenovo ThinkPad. Typically the technician didn't know and seems that he doesn't want to know either, when I emailed for assistance. This one is fixed it.
