For instance, I intentionally have Automatic Updates and the Windows Firewall disabled on one of my systems, and every day Windows Vista finds it necessary to bring this to my attention. I have looked through all the settings and group policies but can find nothing to correct this. It also provides an option to automatically start it with Windows. I don't know if changing the display option from "Show Icon and Notifications" to "Only show notifications" would be the answer.

It never notifies me about new updates and I always have to manually check for updates using Windows Update main window. Or, even better, maybe Microsoft will fix this glaring oversight!

Haven't installed any updates for a month, but the icon disappeared a week ago.
