When I set Windows Update from Only Show Notifications to Show Icon and Notifications, I got a message that the icon was not currently active or something like that, and it Hope they will make things better and give more control to user with this update.

Again, perhaps they just want everyone to just have it set to automatic, and if that is the case, they must think that everyone has DSL, Cable or FIOS. Likewise, the app market is not unified. It has been removed from the WU listing but one never knows. check over here That's it.

blahblahblacksheep MS may have done this on purpose. I had to manually check through control panel when I read about them in the newsletter. Actually I've gotten in the habit of manually running a check for updates every few hours or so. I do not want it to automatically do anything, I want it to notify me the way XP, Vista and Win7 has done for years when you choose this option.
